I don't think even they know what they mean by it anymore. Economically it is proven to do the opposite of what the ostensibly told us it was supposed to do, anyway, and they were told this but went ahead with it anyway.

So for Hammond to stand there declaring that there's an end to the thing his party introduced, ineffectively, which lead to needless suffering by those in most need, is akin to expecting us to thank him for the nice hat he's shat on our heads

This government will underfund public services until the electorate kicks it out.

The incoming government will then have to spend sh1tloads on fixing all the things that were neglected for years in addition to providing a proper level of revenue funding.

That government will be accused of overspending and eventually kicked out and replaced by their predecessors, and the process will start again.

The political desire of Cameron and Osborne to shrink the state has done enormous damage right across the country. Not only has it meant much lower living standards as the UK growth has been amongst the weakest in the West but whole areas of the state are underfunded - the NHS, social care, the police, prison service, the military.

The Tories think the public are stupid plebs, hence the manner of speaking which you'd use to address a child; "It's nearly over now, well done for being such a good boy and taking your medicine". I'd dearly love to wipe out the front bench, the laughing jackals.

You have suggested murdering the entire front bench of HM Government. And you expect a serious reply.

Still, you are a good fit for Corbyn's hateful racist nasty party.

Mark Dolan on Sky said that the government debt is like a mortgage and the deficit is like a credit card/overdraft; can anyone explain this to me.

If you believe BTR is inciting violence and has suggested murder, will you be reporting him to the police based on Section 127 of the Communications Act 2003?

You have an income from wage.

But you still buy expensive items on a credit card. But you pay that off reasonably quickly, from your income.
Your credit card balance is a deficit.

Over a year or so, that may or may not balance out. But over three months, you will have a deficit.

You may also borrow a whack of money for very big things, like a house or a project like HS2.
So that is a debt.

If you keep using a credit card and you can't pay it off, that is when you may re-finance and convert that to actual debt.

It is slightly more complex than that, but I can see why he used that analogy.

So in essence you are saying an government that issues it's own money and set the policy rate (interest rate) is beholden to the same contract as a household.

In effect parroting Ross Perot in the 1992 US presidential elections saying that the government is the same as a household or firm.
