Their player on the end of the wall linked arms with Chambers and actually pulled him back behind the wall !! hence there was a huge gap ! Have a look and see what you think? In other words a blatant free kick.

Agreed. At the time it was pretty blatant (and not even close to being a tussle plus the ball wasn't even in play) but I suppose it depends if the officials were ball watching and admiring Gallagher's strike instead.

What's particularly annoying is that the ref gave a foul for the same sort of thing with the first-half freekick where Roberts' shot hit the Preston player that had gone to ground.

Given our performance in the last half-hour and how Preston kept going, we can't be too unhappy with a draw. But some good luck rather than things evening themselves out would make Lambert's job a lot easier.
