---D--- If we all change our behaviour we can do it. Rule by the prudent can displace rule by the greedy, worldwide.
---E--- Only large-scale human population reduction could possibly save the world. Everything else is window dressing, flannel and an excuse not to face the cold hard facts, however depressing they may be.

Sensible policy decisions by governments acting together penalised emissions of sulphur and thus drastically reduced the amount of it in the atmosphere.

---G--- We're fooked. Financial profit will always be put before people and the planet. People trying to do their bit are pissing in the wind. People spend their time clearing plastic of beaches while a ridiculous amount makes it into the ocean each day. Companies launch new products containing plastic which can't be recycled. People buy bottled water which has been transported hundreds/thousands of miles and packed in plastic rather than buy a water filter. People want meat at every meal. Walkers recently had massive pressure put on them to package their crisps in recyclable packets. They started a scheme where you can send the packets back to them rather than change to a kerbside recyclable packet.

Friday is a brilliant example of where we are as a species. Too materialistic and shallow to change.

So: (H) This is to much to handle, so I retreat to my cheese safe space.

D is our best hope, with a little bit of C thrown in imo. Not that I hold out much hope of the greedy giving up their ill-gotten gains without a dirty fight.

According to the latest IPCC report, it's too late to stop there being an impact, but we can still limit things so that the impacts are not completely catastrophic.

Nope, it's still there, but it's very regional. In the west the clean air regulations have been quite successful, but it's still a problem in countries with high industrial growth rates and less strict controls, like India and China.

It doesn't register with our news agencies these days because it's someone else's problem now.

Sorry. My flippant answer merely reflects the fact that I don't consider that I have any sort of an answer as to 'how we can fix things'. A gradual decline in fertility rate to 2.1 or less, will do f#@% all in the great scheme of things.

Ultimately - I would say a lot of the towns on the East will be below sea water; and we'll need a new Thames Flood Barrier. Globally we are going to have a lot of conflict as a result of global warming and over population.
