Peta write to Wool parish council asking them to change the name of their village to vegan wool in order to “promote kindness to sheep”.

If they do change their name I'm sure the residents of Fanny Barks in Durham will be next on the radar due to their misogynist name.

Indeed, the level of irritation at non-stories from people utterly unaffected by them seems to have reached fever pitch.

Problem is that they probably don't care what the village do. The most important thing is getting their stupid agenda in the national press.

Being against animal cruelty is a 'stupid agenda'? I respectfully disagree.

Okay, a bit of an unfair generalisation.

But to castigate people for wearing wool really does take it a bit too far!

The production of wool involves cruelty, they are against animal cruelty. I fail to see the issue here.

Or has it gone wrong.

Seems to me the article does link to the report on British Wool production.

Here is a report on it from on national newspaper.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/sheep-shearing-wool-peta-farms-r

Now of course, it is now referenced in more newspapers, and on TWTD.

Maybe one or two people may actually look at the report and some of the videos that prompted the letter.

I certainly missed the report, now thanks to PETA and GB working in harmony, I have seen it.

I spose you might be right if you consider there no be no such thing as bad publicity.

Personally though i would say it'll only appeal to and confirm the beliefs of the already converted - those meat eaters / animal users who 'need' to be reached will just have more reason to write Peta off as crazy animal shaggers.

I like the term 'animal users'. I might have to pinch that. Of course, in Norfolk it has slightly different connotations.

I have no time for PETA, but sadly typical of the press that the Telegraph headline it as "Animal rights activists demand Wool village change its name" when the letter made it clear that it was a suggestion.

Except, of course, that the people discovered abusing sheep will be prosecuted for animal abuse by the RSPCA.

Surely a good thing?

And keeping the story in the media may help that.

Nonsense, there are much better ways of doing that - ones which don't actually alienate potential supporters.

I still can’t grasp how you continually decide against doing things for the good of other living things because the person(s) who raised the issue did it in a way that bothered you.

Have you ever decided to be racist because someone who said racism is wrong said it in a way that annoyed you?
