It’s only a bad deal for the UK 12:17 - Nov 25 with 10810 viewscobbler

Because it’s what the EU wants let’s face it the negotiators on our behalf have been next to useless the EU have done nothing but bully the PM into taking anything to save face but it’s a no deal going to happen which won’t do us to any favours.
But who knows what’s brewing in the corridors of Parliament.

A second referendum is brewing IMO and has been for a long time. Parliament votes the deal down and May saves herself by saying ok then, time for a hard Brexit versus remain referendum.

Truly impaired.

Back to the old argument though isn’t?
How many do you want,we did not know what we were voting for,we were to thick to understand, and why would a second vote be more binding than the first one?
Opens a huge can of worms wouldn’t it?

It's us that voted to leave without IMO being given the understanding of what the consequences would be, let's face it why would Europe just give us what we want.

Problem for our negotiating team was that essentially they've been trying to negotiate with reality for the past two years.

The EU is under no obligation to us but to get the best deal for the remaining member states. They were never going to give anything to us on our terms nor should they.

People believe firmly in the Kingdom of Heaven and their reward in the afterlife. How do you work out we'll be better off anytime soon?

If this is meant to pay dividends after 10 or 20 years then we could just as easily want to get back into the EU in 2030 given how the world's changing.

If there's a second referendum the public opinion is dead and politics is finished in the UK.

If it's a choice between our "democracy" and common sense, I hope our democracy gets two shots to the body and one to the head to make sure it's definitely dead.

Of course, a second referendum on a real deal (with infinitely more of the facts on the table) is more democratic than the first one ever was.

It still won’t bring the country together though, and what if the result is as close with remain winning? Third vote or what?

The divides in this country aren't going anywhere unless we actually address them. They're structural and systemic not really political.

Talking about bringing the country together through the superficiality of politics is missing the point entirely. If we're going to get anything out of this sorry few years then we need a touch of honesty and a recognition of the long-term issues that have disadvantaged and disenfranchised a large proportion of our population.

It stops freedom of movement, one of the key E.U. principles. May was hell bent on trying to achieve this after all those years failing to curb migration as Home Secretary. The agreement is simply the price we have to pay for this and still be able to do some sort of business with the E.U.

It does not stop freedom of movement. That continues until we finalise some sort of trade deal. The deal we are then likely to do will require continuing freedom of movement. But we might, finally, register incomers and restrict access to benefits / repatriate after a period without work, just as the EU laws have always allowed but we never bothered with. That will be " sold" as a UK win, when of course, it isnt.
