Never been one for scapegoating... 14:32 - Nov 29 with 1464 views | monytowbray | ...and for all my joking about how bad Douglas was for us it was more he was past it and brought nothing to the table rather than being directly to blame for game changing moments. But Spence? Jesus christ is he awful and a huge factor in how bad we are at the back. Weak challenges, awful clearances, crap man marking, slow to get back into position, simple mistakes over and over. Knudsen this season has been more miss than hit too, but I have no idea how Spence is making a living as a professional footballer full stop, let alone in the second tier.

Never been one for scapegoating... on 14:49 - Nov 29 with 1404 views | marchy | It’s not really scapegoating to point out that a player MK Dons couldn’t find a use for yet somehow finds himself in our starting XI isn’t particularly good. He’s a giant neon “attack here” billboard.

Never been one for scapegoating... on 15:20 - Nov 29 with 1332 views | Guthrum | Part of the issue is how we (and most teams nowadays) use Full Backs. If they're going to be up the field supporting attacks, then they need to be quick of both thought and feet to get back in defence as well. Mings and Cresswell could do it. Knudsen struggles sometimes. Spence isn't up to taking on both tasks.

Yes, this exactly. Surely it's the tactics that determine that both fullbacks get forward when we have the ball, in which case who is supposed to be covering for them? Skuse/Downes/Chalobah? 1 or even 2 of those? It's all very well saying we will attack and entertain, but we all know our defence can seem fragile and needs support. It's been that way for too many years 2 tough away games coming up, we need to show a bit of defensive solidity and look to counter when possible in these next 2 games. Oh for a MM 1-0 away win surprise result.

I do think our system asks a lot of our full backs, too much potentially

Think its the one thing that Hurst spotted early on that both full backs were poor and hence him playing Donacien at both right and left back and even Pennington at full back. Still puzzled as to why he didnt give Kenlock some game time though, and completely bombed out Emmanuel and Cotter.

The system doesn't seem to ask them to stop crosses or defend the far post.
