Lambert supposedly went beserk following Bristol City 14:59 - Dec 1 with 8980 viewsmos

Apparently he was absolutely p1ssed off with aspects of Wednesday’s performance.

It’s hardly hard to believe in fairness, some players need (several) rockets up their arse.

Goals were shocking and we had the game. Do not envy the man, must be incredibly hard to balance motivating us and instilling higher standards.

Am feeling sorry for Lambert. The players are letting him down.

It feels like 1995 again. Expecting nothing from games, and not confident of a point when 1-0 up.

If he doesn't pick them then they cant let him down, he is letting them down when consistently picking them and putting pressure on them to perform beyond their capabilities at present.

Maybe this was the same for Hurst as well?

It's possible Hurst saw the problems from the start but was too harsh in his approach and the players reacted badly.

Could be right.

To be fair at the moment it's mainly BB.

Is the difference between Mick’s time here compared to Hurst and Lambert is that he had a component Bart in goal rather than the version who’s turned up this season?

And Murphy, McGoldrick, Berra, Waghorn, Lawrence.... Even now they would walk into the side over any of Hurst’s signings.

To compare Mick's entire reign v Hurst's due to a competent goalkeeper is up there with the biggest load of guff I've read on here!

I was thinking this earlier - it really does feel like 94/95 again.

It took Burley a long time to turn things around when he took over a shambles of a team - just hope Lambert sticks with the club long enough to do the same...

Defensively we were reasonably solid under Mick whilst we’ve been a mess under Hurst and Lambert. Four of the back five picked by Lambert were regulars under Mick. Was Webster such a key component? Or is that why Mick’s style of football was painfully pragmatic - to support a defence which would otherwise be over-run?

To be confident of a point when 1-0 up requires us to be 1-0 up.

Today we have played Nottingham Forest away and at no point were we 1-0 up.

However, we were once 1-0 up against Inter Milan in a 2 legged European fixture some time ago as well I'm sure we were in some other games that haven't happened today.

Which is going back to what I said originally - Bart kept us in games which he isn’t doing this time around.

We could argue about our potency in attack but today was the first time we failed to score under Lambert and two goals should have been more than enough against Reading and Bristol City plus a ‘keeper/wall blunder was the only reason Preston got a draw against us.

Going beserk = must therefore make changes to the team.

Not at all, one of Hurst’s flaws was changing the team too regularly. Sticking with a similar team is probably a fairly decent plan to go with, otherwise it creates disorder amongst the squad.

Little point in letting into the players and then not giving them a chance to put things right.

Seems to me like Hurst would get angry and lash out with punishment to players - dropping them or making them train with youngsters or whatever. That’s is not motivating. If Lambert gives them an ear bashing and then tells them to go and put it right it’s a totally different thing and the most likely way to gain respect from the players.

I think we're seeing what some of us suspected under Mick, his football was dire but it had to be to remain competitive which we were. We can't pass the ball around and we can't keep clean sheets, his style got results but not any accolades or support.

you are my ipswich !!
