So how does this work? 21:57 - Dec 4 with 728 viewshoppy

The FA Cup in recent years has become a lot more irrelevant, with the big clubs making so many changes every round, thus ruining the oldest cup competition with so much history.

Why then have they been allowed to completely devalue a competition for the lower league clubs that gives a route to a bit of glory for them, by including their under 21 teams in that competition? I know some of them haven’t made it through, but for Man City, Chelsea and Newcastle under 21 teams to go through at the expense of Barnsley, Wimbledon and Macclesfield just doesn’t seem right, does it?

No, sorry for any confusion... the FA Cup has been allowed to be devalued with the big clubs playing their youngsters. With that competition ruined, why has the EFL Trophy also been allowed to be ruined by these big clubs playing their under 21 teams in a competition supposed to be for League One and League Two sides?
No wind-up, just sitting with Sky Sports news on, and kept seeing the score lines from tonight’s games popping up, and just thinking it’s wrong.

The justification is that England doesn't do player development well, with only 50 odd English players playing in the PL most weeks & giving younger players some of this experience might benefit them.
The should scrap the Checkatrade trophy anyway IMO & merge it with the League Cup, which should no longer include the PL clubs who are participating in a European competition.
