"Bookmakers have tried to project hair-trigger gambling as a lifestyle norm, like craft beer or video games: a habit that turns a Premier League fixture into a series of sofa-bound judgement tests and adrenaline rushes."
Most people probably just ignore the ads now it's so saturated but giving problem gamblers a trigger like this in-game is highly cynical. The ban's great but not going far enough yet.

This quote from the Telegraph sums it up nicely:

& even if the do ban the adds on the perimeter boards and on 1/2 time adverts it doesn't get it off the shirts which is constantly on view.
I have a friend who will NOT go to PR until gamblers adverts are off the shirts.

Totally agree with all this. Posters elsewhere suggest this is a minor issue compared to relegation but these are people making huge profits out of a viciously addictive trade using advertising in an entirely cynical way which leads an increasing number to poverty, despair and suicide. A far bigger human cost than us going to League One. Shame on Town for signing up to this tacky shirt deal. What if Evans had a son who was a gambling addict? These companies' belated self-regulation is a desperate attempt to hang on to their massive profits while doing the minimum possible. The ban on any gambling advertising should be re-instated.

Let's say there are 15,000 Town season ticket holders. All of them go to the Magical Vegas website and places a 100 pound bet on Town to go down. Then each fan either stays at home on match day or turns up at PR to make the atmosphere toxic. In effect we induce our own relegation.
WHAT HAPPENS?
Every fan wins on their bet Magical Vegas pays out and then loses out more by being a 3rd tier club sponsor. Marcus Evans sees what's happening and decides not to have an online gambling company sponsor our shirts in future or simply sells to the first offer for the club.
