could there be a duller game than man utd v reading? Also, shame on the FA for allowing Friday night games, Tranmere/Southport's big day v Spurs ruined by it being on Friday night.

Tranmere have a long history of playing their home games on Friday evening...

Just out of interest, what constitutes a good pick for a 3rd round FA Cup tie?

Is it potential a"cupset"?
Is it two Premier League sides?
Is it David against Goliath?

What's the right choice or mix of choices?

For fans it is any lower league team preferably at home to a Premier League giant or even a team at the top of Championship or near it, against a struggling Premier League side.

For the TV companies it is the big six against anybody. It's just every now and then they get lucky with Sutton v Arsenal or non league Stevenage against big six Newcastle or non league Burton against Man Utd and it ticks all the boxes.

I also think that Southport had a history of playing home games on Friday evenings rather than Saturday afternoons, like Tranmere in order to avoid clashing with Everton & Liverpool.

I wonder if the FA had that in mind when making the decision.
