Hurrah - we have a trump card again on 08:59 - Dec 10 with 1673 views | BloomBlue | It won't happen, we've already had a democratic vote and we voted leave, that was then followed by a general election where 80% of those who voted, voted for parties who said they would leave the EU as per the people voted. Remainers need to accept democracy and the fact we're leaving the EU with or without a deal.

Even if you want a hard brexit this could buy some time to prepare on our own terms. The time limit is the major thing the EU (and May) have over us. Edit: I spose if you really can't stand the EU, this also makes it a bit weaker in general, now that a state can exert its power over the collective. Edit 2 - this might kill the backstop too if the right to stay carries over post withdrawal agreement. [Post edited 10 Dec 2018 9:20]

The general election argument is weak as, so don't be a numpty. It's as dishonest as Brexiteers prattling on about a clear result and clear mandate when that's really not the case. Hopefully someone in British politics will have the testicular fortitude to stick their head above the parapet and back remaining, but I seriously doubt any of the current shower have the backbone. Even if the people arranging the leave vote told blatant lies (or have you had your local hospital built yet?), wrote funded illegally and ignored the fact that we cant leave without breaking a major peace treaty? Sounds very democratic!! Either democracy is fluid, in which case we can have another vote will all the proper facts to its static in which case we voted to join 30-40 years ago get over it

“If a democracy cannot change its mind, it ceases to be a democracy” - for a bonus ten points, who said that?

There is a deal but nobody likes it and polls* show that people would vastly prefer remaining in to No Deal. Thus, of the tree options Remain is not only the most popular, but also the most practical, given warnings from all sources of the damage an unmoderated crash exit is likely to cause (and the lack of preparation for it). * YouGov: https://www.businessinsider.com/yougov-poll-voters-would-rather-remain-in-eu-tha Survation: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2018/11/28/no-deal-brexit-staying-eu-popula

You may be right and it may well not be revoked, but at least we now know what the position is with A50. It's rather refreshing to be informed with some truths for a change.
