Accrington will be better. We'll take more fans, terrace away end and we have a chance of causing a cupset.

Poll: An interesting day for our politicians, but which one is worse?

Went to Blackburn for our "critical" final game of the play-off season. Don't really remember too much about it, ground was easy enough to get to but felt a bit soulless. Great atmosphere from us, but we were playing for a play-off spot innit. They didn't make much noise other than when they thought they had denied us the prize, other than that it was a dead rubber for them though. No idea what the local amenities and refreshments are like as we only just tipped up in time for the game.

Not sure any of that is going to help you much, oh well!

I was born in Blackburn and still have a few (now very elderly) family up there.

Ewood Park is easily accessible from the motorway (on the Darwen Road between Blackburn and Darwen).

Been to watch Blackburn loads of times when my Grandad was alive. Nice club, good fans, good feel to it.

The town itself is, quite honestly, a shocker. Wouldn't recommend it for a night out at all and has got steadily worse over the years.

Never been to watch Accrington although the ground again is fairly close to the town centre.

Beautiful countryside once you get out of the towns, if that's your thing.

As other posters have said, Blackburn as a town is a write off. No point in venturing into the town centre.

Good old fashioned ground though.

Not sure what its like for finding good pubs, there is a very large Muslim community in Blackburn, which doesn't go hand in hand with pubs.

Absolutely no brainer. Come to Stanley!
Friendly people, close to the action, unique day out.
Real ale, fanzone, pubs welcoming all fans and we'll probably still have our Christmas tree up.
But I am biased!

You honestly thought the away end was rocking that day!?

Was there too, bar pre game / first 10 minutes after 1-0 up, it certainly wasn't very loud for us considering what was at stake. Second half was eerily quiet, however a lot on the line.

Accrington will be a lot better.

I remember how nervy that second half was, then when the news had came in that Reading went 2-0 up it picked up, then from 3-0 it was all singing and dancing from there!

From the Northern Rail website:
Northern has called for RMT to suspend its damaging December strike action and return to talks at ACAS. RMT has made agreements with other train operators that it refuses to discuss with Northern.
David Brown, Managing Director at Northern, said: “By the end of December, we will have had 19 consecutive Saturdays of RMT strike action. This targeted action disrupts our customers’ lives. But, as we enter a vital period for businesses, it also damages the economic wellbeing of the north of England.
“We have fantastic colleagues who have supported customers by keeping our trains running on each of the RMT strike days. We are aiming to keep as many people moving as possible and ensuring customers can still travel into the biggest towns and cities for the big seasonal events including Christmas markets — but with very few services running after 5pm.
“We expect all of our services, and those of other operators, to be extremely busy and are calling on our customers to plan their travel carefully for the coming weekend, check the new timetables well in advance, and make sure they do not rely on the last trains home.”

Cheers, I have seen that already but it's frustrating as they don't want to mention what happens past Christmas, which is concerning but will need to book trains asap with it being at a cheaper cost...

Been to Blackburn 3 times.

1st time - 1992, we won 2-1.... they sacked Mackay after the game that year, we won the league and they won the playoffs..

2nd time - 1999, came back for a 2 all after Nathen Blake was sent off. we won the play offs

3rd time, supporting my second team PSV Eindhoven, Blackburn won 2-0 in a PS Friendly, we had (PSV) Robert Robson managing, but the team was a shadow of the one that he managed the first time he managed
