Keeping warm 07:35 - Dec 15 with 6929 viewsbluelagos

Genuinely on the fence for this afternoons match due to the forecast 1 degree temperature. Last couple of days my feet have been fookin freezing. Must be getting old I guess.

Any top tips? Anyone know of any gels or anything clever that might help?

Edit: I'm going, the hard-core townies can step down and I apologise for even considering such wimpy behaviour. I am a disgrace to myself, my family and everyone who has ever known me. I can only request you forgive me and I promise to never consider my poor toes again.

You paying?

You can buy heated socks as it goes, might pop into Orwells and see what the story is. Gloves cost me £145 but they are proper warm :-)

A few years ago, I walked out of an hotel & looked up at the outside Clock / Temp it read; 05.00 hrs & -39C, it is unlikely to get that cold at PR today.

Just ordered em so I'll report back. Hands are ok as I have skiing gloves but them toes. Will brave it, but if anyone sees a bloke jumping up n down to try and get some circulation going, go easy on me :-)

I have the same problems with extreme weather, especially the cold. Can never feel my toes. Plays my fibromyalgia up something chronic and I feel like a 90 year old. I really want to go today but I don't want to get ill again for Christmas. If it's not snowing/raining I think I will go.

I’ve got some thigh length PVC boots that keep the cold out a treat.

When I watched NFL in Chicago in an open stand at, quite literallly -10c, the locals had a few tricks

- a bit of cardboard to put feet on when sitting, or stand on, as apparently this helped keep feet warm. Plus those hand warmers you squeeze in their gloves and boots.

Lucky they had spares as otherwise Mrs itfcjoe would’ve struggled even more. But if she can’t air outside for 3 hours plus at an NFL game in -10 I’m sure you can manage 90 minutes at 1c.....

2.3 tog socks. They are brilliant. They are probably stocked in big supermarkets. They definitely used to be in Tesco and don't see any reason why they wouldn't still be.

Ffs I said I'm going!

And you lot will be to blame if I lose any toes to frostbite

Next time you feel the cold DO NOT WEAR THICK SOCKS
Wear two or three pairs of thin socks. This will be warmer than one pair of thick.
It was minus 11 degrees C here Friday night :)
