This season I am a lot more confident with Gerks in goal rather than Bart, not because Gerks has improved but because Bart for whatever reason(s) has gone backwards.
The Bart of the previous two and a half seasons is the better keeper by a long way in my opinion but on this seasons form Bart is second choice. |  | | |

This season I am a lot more confident with Gerks in goal rather than Bart, not because Gerks has improved but because Bart for whatever reason(s) has gone backwards.

I think so too but those things plus Malcolm Webster retiring plus whatever else means that currently (in my opinion) he is not even the best keeper at ITFC.

Well today he did fine so unless he loses form I expect him to hold his place for now. Plus he feels like a lucky charm with the two wins. There are better keepers around in the division but our concerns must be higher up the field. |  | | |

Can you post a few clips of these "trade mark flaps"? This was an argument on here before I believe. Gerken is not the best keeper in the world (no Championship goal keeper is) but he is unfairly overly criticised.
As for the original question, Bart is clearly the better keeper. Something is not right with him this season and, at the moment, Gerken is rightly first choice. [Post edited 15 Dec 2018 22:49]

Was Gerken's mistake against QPR really any worse than the string of howlers Bart has commited since August?

I don't see that as a priority. If Bart recovers his form then great. If not then I think Gerken's a more than competent replacement. He had a couple of sh*t yer pant moments today but also made a couple of great saves keeping a very rare clean sheet. |  | | |

Every time the ball is played back to Gerken you just get a sense of apprehension, he got lucky a couple of times. The free kick in the second half on the touchline when Knudsen pushed on and Gerken took it and then just proceeded to kick it straight out of play just summed it up. Currently, agree with the comments that Gerken is the better option than Bart. However, the keeper position is such a vital one that I still believe we need someone in January that will provide that commanding presence, assurance and confidence to the defence. I just don’t get that from Gerken or Bart this season. | |

Gerks had been playing well and I rated him.
