CCV update 21:51 - Dec 17 with 13511 views | linhdi | An ITK on a Spurs site has said that Spurs are in discussions with Swansea about cutting CCV's loan short, to enable him to rejoin Ipswich. Source is generally accurate. Bring it on.

Obviously a decent addition.... on 21:59 - Dec 17 by Bloots | ....but he'd probably have to start, given the reason he's potentially being recalled. Does he start ahead of Pennington? I guess so. But there are areas where we have a more pressing need, IMHO. |
CCV is twice the player of Pennington. Lightyears ahead of him.

Or if we got Woolfenden back.

I'd say keep Woolfenden at Swindon, especially if we get CCV. He'll get more minutes there & will be better for it next season.

I think it would be slightly pointless bringing Woolfenden back in January, IMO.

Not appropriate at the moment, we need more Championship experience not less. CCV is an excellent player and would fit in straightaway. Hope Woolfenden can push on and compete for a place next year mind you.

Obviously a decent addition.... on 11:17 - Dec 18 by OsborneOneNil | Yep, with you on that. Great guy, but average footballer. Not sure why he should be a definite starter each game. |
Because he brings so much more to the team than just football. He is absolutely pivotal in this team and in no way should be dropped.

Certainly not a good idea to get rid of your leader if you are in a battle-as we are. I would not think that leaving Chambo out is being considered by PL at all. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Not as it stands, I agree. If we add better quality, then maybe that changes. Only a discussion, I love Chambo as a skipper.

Donacien would make a bit more sense in a back there as well, I’d suggest.

Yep — get the impression Lambert doesn't fancy him tho.

Although it's worth noting he had him on the first-team bench at Aston Villa a couple of times when he was a youngster.

Obviously a decent addition.... on 22:02 - Dec 17 by Kieran_Knows | You’d think so, unless Lambert is tempted in to going 3 at the back? I get the impression if CCV does join, it might mean Donaciens permit is close to being confirmed, which will enable Lambert to loan either him or Nsiala out for the rest of the season? |
A back three of ? .........Chambers....CCV.........Pennington....... [Post edited 18 Dec 2018 14:12]

Maybe, but who plays left wing back? Jonas is decent enough as a left back, but no way is he suitable for wing back.

I could understand it but for me, you just stick 4-3-3 now. It works, they understand it and we work around that. It'd be quite the opposite of what he has gone for so far imo.

CCV update on 10:48 - Dec 18 by GlasgowBlue | 3 at the back or are we sending Pennington back? |
Don't see three at the back. May be that he wants three centre-halves more experienced at this level. Carter-Vickers would certainly be ahead of Pennington in the pecking order if he was here.

Also uses a valuable loan slot. At the moment I would have thought a centre forward, central midfielder and right back are the priorities for the 3 loan slots we’re likely to have (with perhaps a winger next on the list).

We could have signed CCV in the summer, I don’t know the exact loan fees - but what we have paid for Pennington, Nsiala and if we sign CCV in Jan that would probably have covered it!

Obviously a decent addition.... on 10:02 - Dec 18 by flimflam | Maybe the fact we have let the most goals in this season suggests we do need to strengthen up at the back as well as bringing in more fire power up the pitch. Yes I know a lot are down to individual errors but I would say CCV is a perfect addition to get involved in a fight to survive till the end of the season as he is a beast. |
The main weakness at the back is surely at full back . We are limited to any extra loans , so forwards must be the priority , then full backs

IF CCV rejoins us then I see Pennington playing at RB. He's better than Spence who could be good bench covering CB or RB. Otherwise PL could be going for 532. which for me is a positive move giving us two forwards with wing backs supplying the crosses.

CCV update on 22:24 - Dec 17 by PhilTWTD | Indeed. |
IIRC Stearman was a big money signing and got injured. When he returned Wilder was going to play him so it limited CCV and that's how the plug got pulled. Presumably Klug had his ear out and got us the deal done?

Wasn’t it because they were signing someone from Southend and preferred to play their contracted player?

Possibly yeah, without googling or trawling here and twitter I'd not bet a ball on it.
