But apparently No.1 in the UK?
what does that say about the population?

Let's spend the afternoon trapesing around a concrete jungle buying stuff we don't need.

Or let's spend the afternoon shopping online buying stuff we don't need slightly cheaper.

Madness.

It's for people who don't do football. The Venn diagram actually has a gap.

I'm trying to wean my daughters off shopping as a hobby. Unfortunately, their mother and grandmothers are pretty bad at needing "retail therapy" so it's an uphill struggle.

Why on earth would you want a hobby that costs you a lot of money and never leaves you feeling satisfied?

On a related note, if I had a son I'd probably advise him to give football supporting a swerve too. Or at least pick a big club early and minimise the pain (and probably stop him feeling that involved too).

Pronouns: He/Him

Oh I don't know. I've heard quite a few Arsenal and Man U fans whine and moan on another level. As for 'retail therapy' ............................

This is exactly why, in the rare instances i actually do "shop" with Mrs Pinewood, i adopt the look of having a face like a slapped arse.
It works.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

Agree.

It always amazes me the things people will spend their money on. New cars on credit with massive interest rates, new phones six months after they got theirs because Apple have released an updated version and they must be seen to have it, trainers for £100+ because they have the right symbol on and even people who buy brands without thinking. My nan is very sensible with money but she won't buy generic medicines with the same active ingredient in or 'own brand' Weetabix etc. I pointed out that even the value brand wheat biscuits have almost identical ingredients and nutrition but she has to buy Weetabix.

I find it all very odd. I read a lot of financial independence blogs etc where they are completely the other way. They take frugality to the extreme. I am somewhere in the middle, I like nice things but the thought of shopping as a hobby is completely alien to me.

Anyone who went to the sales on Boxing Day should be ashamed of themselves. Christmas is a time for family. Fight back against the commercialisation of Christmas/Easter. Boycott shops on bank holidays.
