This is some great work by NASA, they didn't know where they would go after Pluto but the discovery of this object on the rough path that New Horizons was taking means that it's the furthest object from the Sun ever visited.

New Horizons still has 11kg of fuel left so hopefully they can find another target which they have the fuel to reach, there are loads out in the Kuiper belt, just a matter of finding them.
