Just seen that South Yorkshire Police requesting all Sheffield derbies to be played midweek to help manage resources.
Whilst I think police forces all over the UK are probably grossly underfunded and understaffed, the BBC report states the last game cost them over £203,000 whilst the home side were only billed £41,000.
What are people's thoughts on policing costs at matches? Should the clubs be more responsible for costs? Especially when forces are understaffed and money is tight for them.
Games are massively over-policed. The UK economy hugely benefits from inbound investment and tourism from football culture. We should pay for it to the extent it's necessary.
