Was Hurst a good appointment?

Brave given the money they're throwing at it. I'd have thought a slightly more experienced choice would have been in order. Who knows though?

Done a good job at Luton & a fair few wanted him here in the summer.

I guess he’ll look at what Hurst done here, do the exact opposite & be a success at Stoke.

Obviously we’ll see - but I do like him, and was very high on my list of who I wanted in the Summer before it became apparent he wasn’t on our radar

Good luck to him (except on 16th Feb, obvs)

Decent appointment but untested so they'll have to be patient with him, unless he does a Hurst of course.

No idea why he's left Luton though, built something really good there which doesn't look like halting anytime soon.

wanted him after the lincoln debacle, but MM obviously saw out his contract and by that time he was well beyond us. If they give him time he'll be excellent, totally bought into the Luton project, was almost one of the fans and i'm surprised he's left if this is true.

Same here, he was my choice of lower league manager as well.
I thought after the way MM spoke so highly about him, Jones was who we would have got instead of Hurst.
Felt that Jones is a more attacking type manager, what with all the goals Luton were scoring, but Hurst is more defensive.
Think Jones was out of our price range in the end, Luton wanted a big compensation package.

it would have been money do doubt if we'd actually been interested although i doubt that. I hadn't really heard of hurst either then or by the time we started showing interest but knew jones well primarily due to luton's coverage locally (i'm in Herts)

Oh Yes....

He is, the one who I wanted us to sign, instead of Paul Hurst

So, who would you pick as our new manager? by BlueNode 29 Mar 2018 21:53
You packed your bags as I recall
And you walked slowly down the hall
You said you had to get away to ease your mind
And all you needed was a little of time
Oh winter's passed spring and fall
You never rung me, you never called
Nathan Jones you've been gone too long

Didn't he sign a new 4-year deal at Luton around this time last year?

He would have been my 1st choice too, but as soon as he did that I knew there was no way ME would pay the compo Luton would want, clearly Stoke can afford it.
