But Brizzle supporters are absolutely loving Webster. I made a graphic on him so far this year, and take a look at the replies from their supporters. He has more than replaced Flint it seems.

It's not news, but I fear this will look a silly deal for us in the future.

Webster is a good example of how useless we've been in recent years.

Gets picked regularly in a side that isn't really interested in playing football, then when we decide to get a manager who is interested in playing out of from the back, he gets sold.

Based on what he'd done for us I think most were in agreement that the money we got for him was good. Chances are though he'd have looked better in a team that played it on the floor.

It was a sale of a very good player that made little sense, for a price below his market value.

Of all the business done this summer, that one pissed me off the most.

The manager who was interested in playing it out from the back was the one who sold him. So he could buy Toto Nsiala.

I think inthis instance ‘playing it out from the back’ = failing miserably whilst exhibiting all the traits of a Napolean complex.

Yeah but we made a really good profit on him.

Or something like that.

Quite. There were a few of us vocally against that sale at the time but not that many.

Weird how, like McGoldrick, he was injured a lot here but now never misses a game.

There was talk in previous window that linked him elsewhere and Phil put on here that his understanding is that Webster was one we'd look to hold onto as he is the sort of player that could attract a massive fee at some point.

But, looks like it will be Bristol City who end up getting that massive fee.

I mean, who wants a CB who can carry the ball, who is genuinely 2 footed and has an excellent passing range, is big and very good in the air and seemed to have ironed out the errors in his game.

Putting myself in that category. Also thought if we were selling, 3.5m was incredibly low, epsecially as we had to give about 750,000 to Portsmouth.

Was also very much against the Waghorn sale.

Waghorn wouldn't/couldn't work with Hurst.

He was also far from impressed with the treatment of MM at Brentford (A).

Source: very decent.

Nope, not for us thanks.

We'd rather have one-footed hoofers who like to lose their man, give the ball away and get caught out of position.

It was pretty clear that he and Garner saw what life was going to be like under Hurst so got out sharpish.

Shame, as they'd probably have got on well with PL.

It was a case of selling the crown jewels to bring in PH favourites.

Deal seemed good - but we have neglected our defence - especially when we have brought so much money into the club from sales in that area.

Was never happy about this sale and I think its one we will live to regret. Despite the injuries last season it was always clear that he was a good player and one with the potential to get even better.

Selling your best players is never a good policy unless you can somehow replace them with better, unfortunately with mini Roy at the helm we replaced everybody that left with an inferior version.
