Brexit is like making love to a beautiful woman - you promise everything to get her into bed, then you remove her clothes very slowly, then you're not sure if you want to be in or out at the moment of climax...

No idea....possibly.....I'm sure you have the "facts" to support your claim but that wasn't really my point. Read the thread again - puerile playground nonsense being employed to caricature people who disagree with you

It must irritate the hell out of you that their vote is of equal value to yours, which is a richly-deserved kick in the balls for your collective sense of superiority and entitlement

'Nobody did anything to address the Very Real Concerns of Leave voters'. Actually, they did. On multiple occasions the wilful misinterpretations, obfuscations and outright lies were pointed out, usually with evidence to support and the reply was 'yeah well, that's just your opinion'.

Pretty much all you do on here is sneer, just because it rarely makes any sense doesn’t make it any less condescending.

To be fair it’s just a fact that remain voters tend to be better educated.

Obviously there are literally millions of exceptions on both sides but I genuinely believe the everage Brexit voter is less likely to be articulate and nuanced in their debate, even if they are equally knowledgeable and passionate.

And the BBC did more for Brexit than anyone, if only they had actually been partial then we wouldn’t have ended up with this mess.

No one is angry or sneering or being condescending except for you.

All I was doing was trying to defend the BBC against the increasingly monotonous and tiresome accusations of bias (from both sides).

Why have you put ‘facts’?

The knockabout, playground humour is condescending, yes. It shows very little respect to those who disagree with your opinion. It is a wild generalisation suggesting leave voters are uneducated. The leave/brexiteer politicians prove the lie to that. I disagree with much of what they’ve said but the fact is that most of them are highly educated. There must therefore be another reason, other than intelligence and education to explain thier thinking. It could just be that it’s diferent to yours.

Ok, thanks. I’ll accept that!

But does education indicate intelligence? I’d argue not. I work with a lot of lower educated people. They read trash red top papers and have very little grasp of the big wide world (big generalisation but in my experience it’s generally true). But some of them are actually very clever when put into the right situation. I’ve had to learn, painfully at times, not to underest8mate their raw intelligence. Properly tapped and trained they could have gone a long way, but upbringing and low aspiration meant they continue in the same path as their parent, etc.

The fact they read the red tops is quite worrying, especially if they aren't taking a critical stand towards what they are reading.

I'd agree that education and intelligence aren't exactly the same thing. What I would say is that, in general, a university education tends to encourage more independent and more critical thinking than GCSE or A level education does.

Totally agree about the benefits and impact of a uni education. I’m really just taking issue with the often implied assumption that education = intelligence. Maybe as someone who left school with 3 O levels I’m a bit sensitive, but as someone who now has a leadership role in a variety of community and charity settings I don’t think many would question my intelligence now!

All this referencing education has more to do with making people feel good about themselves rather than any bearing on the rights or wrongs of Brexit. More often than not it is code for having more to lose (perception wise) from the status quo being rattled.

The revolution needs to be global or at the very least regional to really work. One state socialism or anarchosyndicalism is pure fantasy.

Revolution begins in your living room, not coming across as sneering and condescending is always a good starting point.
