I realise Pennington did well on Saturday but.... 15:41 - Jan 15 with 647 viewsbontcho

I still hope we get a proper right back. I think part of the reason he did well was Rotherham went pretty direct so suited playing a centre back at full back more than other teams. If nothing else it would be good to have the option. I guess the problem is who and without using up a loan slot it’s difficult to think of someone. PL has blatantly been looking.

I agree. He was brilliant at his far post defending, better than a specialist right back would tbh but will struggle against the pace of Adam Armstrong this Saturday. Plus Lankester’s cutting in would be better helped with a right back bombing beyond him

Rotherham played a lot of ball down the middle. Though Pennington had a good game, he wasn't overloaded or particularly tested. And we have all seen what he can do at centre-half! People keep banging on about him being the answer but I have strong suspicions this is 1 or 2 people with alternative accounts. Ask the average supporter and they'd nod and say "he had a good game but we need a new right back ASAP".

To play him there last sat was a master stroke by PL, as I’d guess Rotherham thought JS would be there, hence the multiple balls to that back post.

Like others stated he had good game, all defenders did but it was midfield where they were coming and right hand side against Elder. Midfield of Skuse and Chalobah were all at sea. Also his over lapping like others stated was not good, same as Elder as there were numerous occasions where there was a massive gap to run into but he stayed back.
