The email account that was on my TWTD profile is live, but the only emails I've had have been alerting me to someone sending me a personal message.
My News stories go to another email address, that I've now changed my profile to (as I hadn't actually realised it was still on that old one).

Nothing. That's a risk you take, unless you store using open source technology where you are in control of where it is stored and backup. Usually these businesses however will have a plan of what will happen to the data if things were to go catastrophically wrong.
That's actually not too bad of a system, as long as they aren't machine guessable. Computers are incredibly good at recognising and guessing patterns. So if for example you were in two data breaches where you had password548 and password262 then they may only need to realistically guess a few hundred passwords vs. a completely random password of the same length which would be 36 to the power of 11. | |

Thanks. The "system" I use is fluid, so I don't think machine guessable. Might now introduce an extra variation though.
