I love him, Call me a melt or a Happy Clapper (when tf did that become a bad thing to be by the way) - but I could genuinely give the man a big old hug right now.

Definitely, but it still doesn't preclude a fall-out with Evans over plans and spending given what happened at Blackburn.

Having Lambert here for next season is one of the few things that could make relegation bearable. Not that we're quite down yet, it would be even better if we were building again whilst still in this division next season.

I would imagine that was a discussion that took place during the talks that ME & PL mentioned in the article on the club website?

I love supporting Ipswich again. I mean, really love it. More than at any time in ten years.

At Blackburn the owners reneged on what was discussed though, or at least didn't or couldn't fulfill what Lambert expected. Probably wasn't as black and white as some would make out.

Hard to be totally confident similar won't happen here.

True, but PL has been very complimentary on Evans backing so far this January. But yes, 4 months is a long time in football, so could all change (but bloody hoping not)!

Bigger news than any incoming transfer as gives the fans, players, staff and all associated with the club that we are all in this for the long haul whatever league we find ourselves in next season.

Made my week this :-)

Good news. The club needs stability whatever happens and Lambert could do a decent rebuild over the summer.

This is brilliant news. It doesn't make relegation OK but it would soften it if it happened. After more than a decade we seem to have stumbled across exactly the manager this club needs. Definitely sense that, in the long run, things may turn out OK.

Sod relegation, I'd like to see what Lambert could achieve with a preseason and a level start from August in the Championship.

I am still convinced that will happen Guthers.

Didn’t see this thread and posted on another - stability is key over the summer so this is good news to hear ahead of tomorrow’s match. I’ve not always been convinced of Lambert’s approach on the pitch but off it he’s been a revelation and done so much great work in healing the rift between the club and the fans.

You said relegation would be a disaster a few weeks ago. Glad to see you're coming around to my way of thinking at last
