They are not living beyond their means because (1) their means include the funding from owners; and (2) they now have had the premiership millions for a prolonged period, which makes up the bulk of their funds (as with other clubs at a similar level).

B*llocks. If they got relegated, there is no way their wage bill would be sustainable EDIT: to point out that clearly what Bully posted is strictly correct, but we all know that relying on Premier League money is a fools errand [Post edited 21 Jan 2019 19:31]

In the modern premiership, gate receipts are a very modest percentage of a clubs income.

That applies to any club. Our wage bill won’t be sustainable next year, for example. They are living within their means if they’re not taking on external debt (no idea if they are or aren’t).

The ‘miracle’ of Bournemouth on 19:40 - Jan 21 with 2700 views | Darth_Koont | There's a lot to admire about Howe and what a lot of the players have achieved even making the grade from League One before getting into the Prem. But this has been bankrolled way beyond what a small club can achieve and was what FFP was meant to rule out. Of course, I'm jealous. But I also remember being "jealous" that back in the day when we got relegated from the Prem along with Leicester, they folded completely and just started up as a new company with all their player assets intact. While we tried to trade our way out of it by selling off our players before ultimately going into administration and stiffing creditors anyway. By then we were pretty threadbare and it helped set the tone for the next 15 years. Derby did something similar to Leicester too IIRC but the details are hazy.

They have £100m a year plus coming in from tv. They have a welathy benefactor.

They clearly did. Not massively. But they took that gamble.

To a degree yes, but Bournemouth simply don’t have any real income outside of PL money or their owner

It’s a gamble in the same way Ben Johnson taking steroids was a gamble. Others would just call it cheating.

Like Wolves and many others before them. Spend the money, if it works you go up and all is well. Theirs wasnt particualrly massive in the scheme of things. Arguably less than the value of our insolvency...

Quite. You're spot on with this. It's sustainable for them as long as the PL revenue is there and the owner is happy to cover any shortfall

Yep, that's true too. 2 issues in this thread being conflated: - they breached FFP considerably to go up (allowed a £6m deviation per season, they posted £10m and £38m losses in successive seasons). - now they are living within their means
