Norwich Away 09:21 - Jan 23 with 4745 views | pablosturn | So there is no Alcohol in the ground, no away pub, 12pm KO on a sunday? Don't the police realise that this is just going to result in people drinking excessively in the streets or on the train rather than in the ground? So instead of being able to contain (either in a pub or the away end) where the drunkards are, they will be spread amongst various locations trying to get as tanked up as possible at 10.30am, great work from all Police forces concerned!! lol [Post edited 23 Jan 2019 9:22]

Bizarre isn't it? If people wish to get drunk before a match they will get drunk regardless of the restrictions imposed? Given the fairly good behaviour of the vast majority home and away the past few years these draconian measures seem excessive to deal with what was senseless vandalism by 4 fans last season?

Norwich Away on 09:42 - Jan 23 with 4647 views | SitfcB | What usually happens is most people stay in the Station Hotel (opens at 6am) until getting the latest train possible and then drink on the train up. I’m not sure why there’s blubbing that there’s no alcohol in the ground, it’s sh|te anyway. Cramped concourse, queue for ages and £4 a pint.

From what I've been told in the past the lack of a pub in recent years has been more down to no landlords being willing to take Town fans rather than the police preventing them from doing so.

I think it helps identify who fans actually are. Any herbert causing problems can be identified by his seat number by the cameras. Makes it a bit harder if the user is not the purchaser. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Nah you still need a customer number to be able to buy on general sale.

Apart from the fact that about 50% of those in attendance won’t be in their seat, and the trouble that caused this occurred in the concourse

50%, really ? that I doubt very much, and plod uses CCTY to identify 'miscreants' once they are seated hence the knock at the door days after similarly a Villa fan received a letter from the club warning him of his 'behaviour' at a home game some days after the game you need to wise up a bit

A lot of away games people move around and sit where they want, 50% might be exaggerating but he's not wrong. Splash Bandicoot, Paul Lambert is blue, Army Suffolk, Come on!

Probably a slight exaggeration but there’s definitely a large number that won’t. The front rows, particularly to the right, are always rammed Wise up to what exactly? It’s not particularly difficult for the police to ID a football fan anyway

Think it's fairly obvious. Fans like to, just because it's Norwich, behave like idiots before during and after the match. It's a shame there's no pub to go to but as Phil says that's not necessarily the police's fault.

Feels like the police and potentially the clubs are trying to destroy the whole derby generally, there's way more fierce derbys than ours which are played as night games. Spling splong blue army, Lambert Ball, Suffolk.

though as I say every time this comes up, yes its correct the police dont specifically prevent it happening, however the police make it clear to landlords running pubs, and its the same situation in Ipswich and probably the whole UK, this isnt specific to Norwich at all. Any trouble at the pub that they have to be called to deal with, can & will likely impact on their license renewal and can & will result in additional license conditions being placed on the pub. take the Robert Ransome when it was open in town, the police I think it was just as the result of two seperate occasions on pre game matchday afternoons, had to turn up to deal with some minor football fan related trouble, they were then forced to implement the no away fans ban, they had to use plastic glasses only on matchdays, and ultimately ended up with door staff...in the afternoon, it probably sank any profit they were making on saturday afternoons. so all that the norwich pubs are doing are protecting themselves, based on the fact the ones nearest the ground/station are nearest Prince of Wales road, which are a sight to behold on a friday night, even the train station hires door staff then. they get enough hassle trying to run their business as it is in that area of Norwich, without a bunch of town fans turning up,, the compleat angler goes even further now and just bans all away fans full stop, just so thats one less headache for them, because even if every town fan behaves and is as good as gold, there are plenty rooting for the other team who likely wont be. and go back to the cat & canary case, note the police advice to the licensing committee specifically referenced a previous incident they felt they had cause to deal with, even if nothing really of significance happened, but note the consequence.
