If we 'do' go down. We would stand a great chance in the 'Johnstones Paint Trophy'. If we did win it, would that be a big achievement for us or? would like to hear opinions

Not sure about a great chance. Or that it would be a big achievement but it would be an achievement. You can only beat the teams you're playing.

Given we've been comprehensively dumped out of cup competitions by L1 and L2 clubs in recent years, I suspect we wouldn't have a great chance once we pare down to a L1 budget.

No, it wouldn't be a big achievement for us. It'd be a good day out for sure, but also a sad indictment of the state of the club.

No and given what the Football League has done to that competition I would be campaigning very strongly for all games in it to be boycotted.

Would certainly be one for the "This once great club" brigade.

The answer is no, that would not be an achievement worth over-celebrating. Sure it would be another piece of silverware, but if it was a museum it would be the one you see at the front desk as you enter.

Dont you think we'll have to fill in the cracks first before seeing the benefits of this trophy ?

It's regionalised so we would have probably have to play scum under 23s at some point. Sunderland recently hosted Newcastle's kids. What would the old bill do then? Can't move a Check-a-trade game to noon on Sunday.

Imagine the shame of being dumped out by Norwich youths.

Am I right in thinking that if we were to be relegated we could find ourselves in the same group as Norwich U21's and playing them home and away midweek.

Do what Sunderland and Newcastle did and play it at 7.45 on an evening in front of only 15000. It really was not such a big problem.

Probably 11am on a Thursday.

Not that anyone would particularly care.

If the FA Cup and League Cup don't have the status they once had, this trophy certainly hasn't caught them up.

How often is it won by one of the Prem league reserve sides? Imagine being such a lowly considered trophy Man City or Arsenal reserves can't be that bothered about it.

Didn't Stoke take 4,000 and cause a load of trouble against Port Vale earlier this season in this cup?

And the Newcastle fans were limited to the number of tickets they could have, despite the ground only being a third full.

Not sure they even play, we'd probably be in with Col Utd, Southend and Spurs youths if these season is anything to go by.

We'll lose to Norwich's reserves. It's bound to happen to us, especially with Marcus Evans idea of what competitive is compared to reality.

It's time to make the best of it.

I love the way that some still think if we go down, we'll just sweep everything. Hell, we'd be so good, we'd deliberately loose our last 5 just so we can have a day out at Wembley.
