The women in the house would hang me by my knackers if I did that. I was very pleasantly surprised by the marmite - they were crappy potatoes as well. I normally use Charlottes but when I went to start cooking I realised I only had the Mrs's prison grade ones in stock that she uses for a Nacton dinner (Jacket potato) - and I couldn't be arsed to go out.

Having crap spuds for roasties is upsetting isn't it? I swear by Maris Piper's personally.

Yes I agree, the problem with crap spuds is that after a par boil they fall apart, I just caught these in time - more by luck than judgement. Next time I'll use Maris P's and you can use Charlottes - then we can report back and compare. It won't be for a fortnight as I'm away from next Saturday.

Controversial choice to roast a salad potato isn't it? Is Charlotte a good roaster then? Growing a few hundred yards of em this year at the farm.

Much tastier with skins on, tho you might be ingesting a nice whack of agricultural chemicals.

Par boil them in their skins then half way through roasting, crush them and toss them around in the oil . Bit of rosemary doesn't go amiss. Done.

MPs or Roosters are our faves. Our local farmaers market swears by Reds. I've just put some par boiled in the freezer by chance. I need a review of the marmite spuds.....would love to try.
| Assumption is to make an ass out of you and me.
Those who assume they know you, when they don't are just guessing.
Those who assume and insist they know are daft and in denial.
Those who assume, insist, and deny the truth are plain stupid.
Those who assume, insist, deny the truth and tell YOU they know you (when they don't) have an IQ in the range of 35-49.

I love them. You can get a larger Charlotte than the little salad ones - although I'm probably telling you something you already know.

I can vouch that this is a great way to cook salad spuds. Possibly with a few cloves of garlic in the pan too.

Daughter wasn't keen but she doesn't like Marmite, strangely she likes Bovril so I'll try that next time.
