An utter mess isn't it, especially given the quality we lost last Summer. Lambert reeled off a list of names on Tuesday night and there was a clear bit of regret about that. For all the noise from Evans and Lee O'Neill about having a more coherent structure off the pitch now the evidence remains far from convincing.

It's a little like 2008-09 when Magilton added players to the squad as often as he could but at the cost of the over all coherence of the team. Lambert at least has decided who is in his thinking now.

There's not been much talk recently, but youth internationals always have a deal lined up to sign on their 17th birthday - but that was in April last year so clear something is happening in that regard.

I'm not convinced be will leave, but there is clearly an impasse

It's a real shame that we can't find good loans for Morris, Emmanuel, Nydam or Cotter (to name just four ... ). Current situation is not good for anybody.

I'm actually fine with that, although the 6 loans is a bit of a bummer.

Chalobah, Bree, Quaner, Keane will be certain to be in the squad.

Pennington I presume would be involved if we blocked it? That leaves Elder.

Yep it's silly really. Only thing that gives me confidence is the fact that Paul Lambert knows how ridiculous it is, seemingly hates having so much reliance on loanees and certainly gives the impression that he wants to revert to a base where he's supporting the youth, supplementing them with a couple of choice loan signings. The next 3 months isn't business as usual, it's needs must to try and pick up some wins. I would wager come August our squad will look very different, and much skinnier

Anyone know a rough monthly wage bill for all that lot?

I get the impressions Collins would leave if we got relegated.

It's a real muddle, amazing what one bad summer can do to a squad though as was always under control with Mick.

Annoyingly the players being bombed out and not used are the ones on 3 year deals that PH signed

This may well be an unfair question as I think you have very good connections with the club.

If you know - was it adamantly clear at the time that Ben Knights, Charlie Brown and the Mexican lad we’re always going to leave the club? Was it a case if then wanting to or their parents pushing for a move?

But only for three months. And at a time of crisis when we needed to get people in, but may not have had offers for some of those now deemed surplus to requirements.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

In Ben Knights case it would be really unfair to suggest any pressure from his parents, I know that for a fact. The whole system is BS. The package that Man City offered is just mind blowing. They offered to buy his family a house in the Manchester / Cheshire area so they could be close to him, which they refused, as they had no intention of leaving Cambridgeshire. Instead, they paid off the existing mortgage + a nice buffer. A family member of his was offered a full time job at Man City, some BS nonsense title, with a decent salary, to incentivise him to move up there too. As for BK himself, he's earning more than a good handful of our starting XI tomorrow.

Also worth noting that BK's a humble lad, good head on his shoulders and fairly bright. Not to mention an unbelievable talent.

Nothing's impossible, but it's hard to say no to what City put on the table.

Unbelievable - not what you wrote - but what Man City are able to offer. Hope that he doesn’t get lost in their system as they must have so much competition up there.

Someone on here mentioned that he would be in or around our first team by now.

On the OP, i don't think you can honestly can Morris as a forward, so i'd say we have four senior forwards.

And for the squad list for me:

GK (2)
Gerken - Offered one year deal
Bart - sold for the right money

FB (6)
Knudsen - contract up, released
Spence - contract up - released
Elder - Kept on, no prospect at Leicester IMO
Emmanuel - Sold
Kenlock - Kept on
Bree - returned

CB (4)
Chambers - kept on
Pennington - returned
Nsiala - Kept On
Collins - released, turned down new contract

CM (8)
Chalobah - returned
Skuse - kept on
Nolan - kept on
Bishop - kept on
Nydam - Sold
Downes - kept on
Dozzell - probably sold if price is right
Huws - kept on

WM (5)
Edwards - sold
Sears - kept on
Judge - kept on
Lankester - kept on
Dawkins - released

F (5)
Jackson - Kept On
Harrison - kept on
Keane - kept on
Quaner - returned

If, as ME says, we have suitable wage drop clauses, i see no reason to turn around most of the squad. We would have more than a capable team, already familiar with each other which will bode well.

Absolutely. No point ruing it (I'm about to anyway) but you've only got to rewind 9 months, Mick's gone, we're coasting to a better than midtable finish (above Norwich) and beating Reading 4-0 away under Klug. Got a bright group of young players coming through, some excellent senior pro's and the blankest of canvases for the next boss. Talk about hitting self destruct.

I just can't see many teams actually wanting to buy most of our players. We are going to have to take the financial hit and buy out a lot of contracts and release them as free agents.
