Prolific in L1 but has struggled on two separate occasions to replicate that in the Championship.
An overpriced, but still a good purchase for Sunderland (in the short term) and a decent wedge for Wigan to put toward an upgrade.. Makes sense all around really. |  | | |

I do not think he is a good player, certainly not good enough to mount an promotion campaign in L1. He could still learn a thing or two, and I could be wrong, but I just don't see anything impressive in him | |

It did.
However there is still Legacy debt outstanding.
Transfer money owed on premiership signings eg Whabi Khazri, Ndong etc
Prem Wages on Cattermole and Oviedo stil being paid
30000+ crowds can only take the club so far.
The £4m on Grigg is OTT but Sunderland really need to go up. My understanding is that the current owners have further backing if promotion is achieved to assist being a stable Premiership Club. The extra £2m then will be small fry in comparison. |  | | |
