£4mill seems a bit steep! Wigan have done well there.

I think its good for both clubs and the player, I have a feeling he will thrive at Sunderland.

ABout average for this era of football shows you how far Evans is behind the times when it comes to what he's willing to spend.

It's time to make the best of it.

World's gone mad. They could've got a Nolan, Jackson and Donacien for less than that.

Prolific in L1 but has struggled on two separate occasions to replicate that in the Championship.

An overpriced, but still a good purchase for Sunderland (in the short term) and a decent wedge for Wigan to put toward an upgrade.. Makes sense all around really.

Yeah, no wonder they couldn't refuse it. Baffling money from a L1 club! Especially for a player who has not scored since August i think?

I just look at this and remember when people were bemoaning Evans for not pulling his pants down for the Oystons in regards to Tilt. TWTD

Accrington are going to name a stand after Paul Hurst I think.

Donacien could be one of the only players ever to be loaned to a club, the loan becomes permanent, then loaned back to the selling club again.

Strange though isn't it (not that I'm bothered), but he wouldn't spend the extra £250k on Tilt (or whatever it was), but we was quick to up our first offer for Nolan and Nsiala.

Still, as you say, TWTD.

Jackson was the biggest rush job i think, I think we payed the price of panic there: IIRC the deal looked dead in the water in favour of Windass, then suddenly Jackson came in at an extortionate price.

This transfer makes the acquisition of Priskin look like a master stroke.

£1.6m plus add on's. Well and truly got done there (although I do think he's a good player and he might be worth keeping hold of if we did unfortunately get relegated).

Priskin at least got that goal against Arsenal. Good god, a cup run. TWTD.

I do not think he is a good player, certainly not good enough to mount an promotion campaign in L1. He could still learn a thing or two, and I could be wrong, but I just don't see anything impressive in him

Fair enough I suppose, just think there's something there to work with, perhaps needs to be played up top with someone, rather than on his own.

That said, I can see us selling him for a massive loss this summer. Peterborough for £900k is my guess.

What a world we live in now where a bang average footballer can go from a Div 2 club to a Div 3 club for £4m.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

Didn't thier debt get wiped as part of the takeover though?

It did.
However there is still Legacy debt outstanding.
Transfer money owed on premiership signings eg Whabi Khazri, Ndong etc
Prem Wages on Cattermole and Oviedo stil being paid
30000+ crowds can only take the club so far.

The £4m on Grigg is OTT but Sunderland really need to go up. My understanding is that the current owners have further backing if promotion is achieved to assist being a stable Premiership Club. The extra £2m then will be small fry in comparison.
