ITFC not just about 78 10:47 - Feb 3 with 543 viewsWhymarkmariner

Let's get our facts right ITFC isn't just about 1978 or 1981. Great years though they were and great players. But over the years prior and since the glory years we have had teams to be proud of and some very decent players and very decent Managers. Now, well we don't really know. PL has done an excellent PR job and mended the wounds caused my MM. We still are yet to see a team to be proud of and one that those that have deserted PR want to return to. Division One won't help, in fact crowds will probably go backwards before and if they go forwards. But obviously that will depend on who we keep, who we get rid of and who we recruit. Sad times though.

Football has changed. We need players we can bond with, care for the club and want success, not just here for the 3 year contract and the financial package.

Go back to the late 90s and we had Tarrico, Stockwell, Holland, Johnson, Magilton, Naylor, Wilnis, Dyer, Wright.

Since relegation there have been fewer to be proud of. Chambers obviously. Walters, McGoldrick, Murphy, Cresswell, Smith. Alan Lee. Darren Bent, Kuqi, De Vos.

Compare that with the expensive journeymen of Norris, Leadbitter, Martin and countless forgettable others.

Try this quiz. I found the more recent years harder to complete: https://www.sporcle.com/games/Freddie/XIIpswich?t=ipswichtown
