As with Zimbabwe 's famed farms, the problem for Venezuela is mismanagement of its petrochemical industry.
When I worked briefly at start of millennium the big oil companies were well represented, but Chavez nationalised it all and put arselicking dolts in charge. Forget cost of oil or whether it's the "wrong type" this country should still be rich and the envy of its neighbours.
Despite it's decades long civil war and narco issues Colombia was a far better place to do business.
Those that blame the USA for all of the world's ills should take a long look at themselves. By no means perfect or angelic but they embrace democracy, how else would the like of Trump get elected! |  |

This is absolutely fine.
What is happening though and it’s evidenced on this board over the last week is that they go far further than that. It’s entirely the US fault that Venezuela is in this state and nothing will convince them otherwise.
