Wolves v Shrewsbury 11:28 - Feb 7 with 1454 viewsShropshireBluenago09

I went to this game on Tuesday night. Although they lost, I was really enthused by the tenacity and fighting spirit of the Shrews. Sliding tackles, strikers running back 50 yards to tackle, defenders blocking. Mixed with good attacking play and quality set pieces. The general style of play against a v good Wolves side was so good.
The Shrews have gone through similar season to us, all stemming from ME taking their manager. Which has lead to the demise of both teams.
Based on this display, they can stay in league one and if we can play a chasing, harassing game like them, we can win on Sunday and start winning some games.

The evidence of late suggests we will not play like that though. Last Saturday was a really limp display that was severely lacking in fighting spirit for the most part. We should be fighting for every single ball in our position but we seem more focused on passing out ( badly ) from the back than actually scrapping for points.

Lets hope it changes on Sunday because we are going to need to play in that manner to have any chance whatsoever.

Maybe we should poach their manager?

The passing game Lambert has instilled, is partly down to his meeting w ex-players who must have told him this is the Ipswich way. All well and good if you are winning games but in a relegation fight you need battlers and scrappers. We should also be playing to our strengths Quaner and Keane are both 6 foot plus. Play 442 and get som crosses on the box

How did Bolty get on?
I know he scored again, but couldn't make the game.

Only if they have a new Doig to assist him. The last Doig was the one who really wore the pants.

Poll: If only these two were available who would you choose for the rest of the season

And Hurst gladly took the pictures.

It's almost as if Mick McCarthy knew how to manage the resources made available to him by the owner in order to keep the club in the division, and Keane, Jewell, Hurst and Lambert don't ...

It's time to make the best of it.

Ah yes your mate Bolty... a real tryer. Good header for the goal and scrapped for everything

Totally. I would be more than up for that philosophy being implemented from next season with a full summer window to recruit but right now the task for Lambert was surely to keep us up by whatever means are necessary.

This insistence on trying to play total football with players that are not up to it is costing us points and will likely cost us our Championship status.

Yeah, spoke to him after the game, but nice to hear from a random watcher.

indeed. our alleged passing game is mostly confined to the goalie and defence knocking it back and forth to each other in a very unconvincing manner. Oh for someone in a midfield to tread through an incisive pass.

Once again, it all goes back to our poor midfield and in particular......Skuse
