Seen some mixed reviews of his performance yesterday and there were certainly times when he and others - Knudsen most glaringly, but also unsurprisingly - clearly weren't on the same wavelength. But I thought in general he set an example to some our guys in wanting to get on the ball, be brave and try to make a few things happen. Didn't quite come off but he found some very good areas and is looking sharper. I really, really hope we can get him sorted for next season as he would make aspects of L1 look easy.

Completely agree but think he's too good for L1.

We have him in the building though and if the contract option really is in the club's favour then I think keeping him should be a priority.

I reckon he probably has an opt out? If we can get him sorted it would be great. Especially with the Bishop contract extension.

He is head and shoulders above our lot in terms of movement.

Yep - knows how to win himself that extra half-yard, which we have struggled with for years.

He is clearly very talented and crucially, wants the ball. Seemed very frustrated when his touch let him down or a pass didn't quite come off yesterday. He will obviously be able to shake off the rustiness with time. It's a shame that time is something we don't have.

Sadly, I would imagine he will have better offers than here if we're relegated.

No, not at the moment

This. Would be a massive coup if we could keep him in League 1.

He might have but, again, it depends on exactly what the deal is we have agreed with him.

But also he takes the ball with an open stance and his head up.

Reminded me of Magilton yesterday albeit playing in a different position, obviously.

Demanding the ball, berating team-mates if they weren't up to the mark, in the ref's ear, slamming into tackles.

Can't see him here next season for financial and league reasons.

He was comfortably one of the better players yesterday.. But he was always guilty of being incredibly wasteful.

Agreed.

He was also getting on at other players for being sloppy on the ball against Sheffield Wednesday.

We need that IMO.

I see what you mean.

We've been missing that type of player.

I think he'll end up at a lower end Championship team next season.

Are you saying that class midfielders like Skuse can’t pick him out?

I'm saying that he is a different sort of player to Skuse and anyone with any sense of football knowledge could recognise that they are both important in different ways.

To make it easier for you. Hazard is very different to Kante but they are both very good and both deserve a place. Fernandinho and Silva etc.

He reminds me a bit of Stephen Hunt - who incidentally, along with his brother are exactly what we are missing.

Be interesting to know how the option sits - I like his tenacity and as mentioned in another thread he seems to have that Magilton knack of demanding more from those around him.

His quality is not quite there at the moment, but will come and think we need to try and stick to formation we played yesterday to keep him getting on the ball

EDIT: And just read later posts in this thread from SWGF and RiG about Jim

It's not rocket science, is it?

I don't see why we've not attempted a diamond before this season given our poor wide options.

Keane and Harrison supplied by Judge with Skuse sitting to allow Bishop and Chalobah to roam would be nice IMO.

I'd just like to point out that I've been calling for the diamond for some time.
