That is rather a lot.

If my maths is right it is costing them as much as if they had bought him for £60m and still given him over £110k a week.

All the big boys wanted him, so why not pay him that much?

Instead Arse gave their money to Ozil of course. Gutted

Ridiculous.

Assumption is to make an ass out of you and me. Those who assume they know you, when they don't are just guessing. Those who assume and insist they know are daft and in denial. Those who assume, insist, and deny the truth are plain stupid. Those who assume, insist, deny the truth and tell YOU they know you (when they don't) have an IQ in the range of 35-49.

One week's money is about what these guys should be receiving per year.

They'd still be stupidly well-off.

Although playing devil's advocate for a minute, is it not better that those who create the product take the lions' share of the wealth rather than making some faceless millionaire owner even wealthier?

It's all very well, but look at Sanchez and Ozil... their huge contracts haven't proven to be value for money.

Well indeed, there is that. But the general point stands that there aren't many other industries where the vast majority of the wealth produced goes to those who produce that wealth.

Good luck to him and the others but I'm more shocked that a club thinks he is worth that wage. He is good but not that good.

That’s a fair point. I don’t know what their wage:turnover ratio is, but it’ll be high even though they’ve a big income. We’re 100% (or were). Not many jobs where everything a company owns is paid to its staff, for sure.

When I finish my degree and get a job, I'll earn in about two and a half years what he'll be earning every day.

We are too far gone now for salary caps and the like, utter madness. For those that deplore Marcus Evans adhering to FFP I would ask is this OK? Is this what we should be aiming for?

The revenues of these big clubs enables them to be able to pay those kind of wages. It's at our level and below where the wages aren't affordable because everyone is chasing the promised land.

Perhaps...I just hate seeing what has happened to the top tier of English football. If there was more financial restraint then lower league clubs wouldn't spend as much chasing the dream and situations like Bolton, Portsmouth etc would surely be far less common.

I'd love to make that money so I could give most of it away. But that's the only reason.
