I think I've worked out why Lambert is getting so much support and I completely understand the reasons for it. He's the first manager in a while to talk about the club and what it could achieve in a completely positive way. Even at his best, Mick kept expectations dampened down while Hurst described himself in his earliest interviews as a glass half-empty personality.
The last person to talk about this club's potential in such glowing terms was Paul Jewell...and therein lies the problem when looking at the results and what's actually happening. There are mitigating factors I know, but our form is a throwback to those days and it isn't enjoyable to be reliving it again. |  | | |

That's very true. We've had our 'expectations managed' for a very long time- no getting excited if things go well or badly. That's not a bad attitude to have but it's not likely to inspire the fans. I suspect a lot of it is down to the simple acceptance that with our budget we simply have to make do and mend. |  |
