BANTER ERA NOV 2007 - APRIL 2023 09:55 - Feb 13 with 90046 viewschicoazul

What's your personal highlight of the Banter Era?
For me, the way Delaney told Jewell he was off to live in New York and needed to be let go, and then turned up at Palace a month or so later and enjoyed a promotion and a long career in the top flight.
I also like very much the fact Jewell signed Ingimarsson (sp) simply because they were at the same resort on holiday at the same time and Ingi did of course turn out to be an absolute knacker of a player.
Also the gangsters arriving at Playford Rd looking for Chopra.
What are yours?

Remind us of the Over 65's ticket thing again, friend. I know it was hilarious and tragic as so many of these moments are proving.

Our wrinkly friends used to be entitled to a discounted rate after their sixtieth birthday, but Mr Evans decided that they should live another five years before they are entitled to any discount. These wrinklies being those who would have seen us during the glory years, now unceremoniously fleeced so we could afford to pay Malarczyk's transfer fee.

People assuring us that DErby's 'keep spunking lots of money' approach was definitely the way to go and then watching them finish 7th every season.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Kevin Bru’s scouting career starting and ending with the signing of Larsen Toure.

Kevin Bru losing his dog twice.

Kevin Bru never being fit enough to complete 90 mins.

Kevin Bru becoming a sort of cult hero for nothing much more than section 6 going ‘Bruuuuu’.

Kevin Bru now seeming like the halcyon days of midfield signings.

Bru was weird as he started well but managed to get progressively worse every season.

How have we missed Evans' 'Five Point Plan' here?

Definitely a real plan and not just a lame attempt to placate fans.

Binning off the Arsenal home cup semi because I was so disgusted with the 7-0 defeat at Chelsea 3 days earlier, and thus missing the only actually genuinely decent result of the entire banter era.

This is on me, as opposed to the club.

Here's one on me.

Leaving Portman Road on the 90th minute assuming we have beaten Coventry 2-1. Having a slash in the loos under the Britannia stand and hearing Cov's equaliser, then hearing the cheers outside the ground when Pablo snatched the winner.

Actually fck it, this one is a doozy.

Taking 9,000 fans to Old Trafford on a Wednesday night, to see us lose 3-0 playing a back pairing of Josh Yorwerth and Polish Pete, with the highlight of our attacking threat being Jay Tabb almost winning a corner.

I remember vividly reading a newspaper on the toilet on a Sunday afternoon feeling a little hungover. Who do I see as League 1's top 3 goalscorers? Jack Marriott, Brett Pitman and Kieffer Moore.

On a similar theme, Bullard running* late to the ground on match day because of roadworks. Then putting in a crap performance.

*Sorry, that could be confusing. By running I mean literally ditching his car and running, not 'running late'.
