Have hired a motorbike for a few days (hippy truck is transporting my bags) and found myself in need of a dump. Hadn't seen any cars for over 30 mins...and needs must.
So, can report that leaning back, and letting gravity do the rest, as we must have done in centuries past, is still a viable option where no other options are available.

And Peru is the only country I have been to in South America, although I have been to each one in Central America. What are the plans after Peru? Argentina and Chile for their Lake District? More Motorcycle Diaries?

Basically following the Andes up to Categena in Columbia. In around a week's time I have 2 weeks on my own (from Lima) and then back on the bus (no bike)
Cheap as chips though road signage is as rare as a clean toilet tbh. Grub is cheap, hot showers a pleasant surprise. I like it (a lot) but not for the spoiled/entitled traveller - probably why I like it :-) Years of African hardships prepared me well!

What's your route thru Colombia? They are constructing major new roads from the centre of the country to the coast.
Looks like route 25 would take you from Ecuador thru Cali & Medellin towards the Caribbean Coast.
Though I love Colombia and can just about manage the lack of sanitation... I really couldn't handle much travelling on those busses. If you are single then I can imagine the possibilities of a girl in every hotel room!! [Las chicas! TWTD]

Indeed. Was there this morning before riding down to Arequipa for 3 nights :-)
Closest I got was a close up of one wing. Let's say photography aint my strong point, though I did get a couple of nice ones with the volcanoes in the background on the ride this afternoon.

We are defo going through Medelin and not Bogota but that is all I can remember. Route is planned by truck leaders. Hearing good things about Colombia so very much looking forward to it
