Not only have they been found in every British waterway but the River Tame in Manchester had 1000 pieces per litre of water!!! The main culprits were car tyre dust, clothing fibres, paint, road markings and nurdles. The report says that once in the water they go on to permeate every level of the food chain. Shocking and sad.
