Ipswich Town 4-1 Manchester City - 10th March 2019 12:21 - Mar 11 with 990 views | itfcjoe | Good result yesterday. This was the Womens U21 team in the cup quarter final. I'm no expert on Women's football, but you'd assume Man City pump serious money into their girls academy if the rest of the club is anything to go by - including the Man City Women's team who are top of the league and still in all the cups having had a cursory Google. I spoke to a friend who is involved with the women's set up at club and he says we have a first class academy and some quality youngsters coming through, and hope to be in the Super League in 5 years. A couple of youngsters in England youth squad. This season with change of manager and recruitment been a bit of a wash out, and with only one promotion place up for grabs a bit of a disappointment. The young girls face Arsenal in the semis - would be good if they can continue to do well. The club is doing well at U18 and U23 level on the mens side this year, with both heading for the play offs - be nice if the girls can have some success. Some classic Suffolk commentry from the crowd here, especially after the FK goal

If ITFC can get into the Women's Super League it would be a major boost for the town and club. People tie themselves up in comparisons with the men's game but that is entirely by the by, they are different things; in its own right, women's football is just going to get bigger.

Absolutely spot on. Women's football is really enjoyable and getting better all the time. I would hazard that the majority of people who denigrate it haven't watched it to any great length.
