Public Sector efficiency part 55838288282 08:27 - Mar 15 with 408 viewsBluefish

I run a local park and football facility and we have a 25 year lease with the council . We have some s106 funds to improve our sport pavilion but the council want to control the project, they have been doing a feasibility study for the small extension and removal of internal walls. We have around 80k to use and they have said this work will cost 88k to do, seems we got things spot on in what was achievable. However the whole thing has fallen apart but once they add extra fees and contingencies on the final total is 216k. Absolute madness, you could knock it down and rebuild for far less than that

Cripes! I thought this sort of cost inflation only happened on big ticket public projects like anything the MOD has its hand in or HS2.

But how would their mates in the private sector get by without their inflated fees and kickbacks?
