never had any interest until my mate lent me his. HOLY MOLY. He's a yank and claiming some long lost family in Framlingham so we powered up the glasses and were walking around the castle. Seriously impressive.
I have zero interest in video games so the question is, is it worth spending $250 on glasses that aren't much more than a novel way to use google street view. I mean, it was fun to 'walk' down Portman Rd etc. but what else is there to do with the glasses? |  |

You can pick up a cardboard VR holder for your smartphone for just a couple of quid if you want. Obviously not as good as the best kit but me and the daughters went virtual skydiving the other day and it was great fun.
I guess it isn't realistic enough if you want to use it a lot though. |  |

You can pick up a cardboard VR holder for your smartphone for just a couple of quid if you want. Obviously not as good as the best kit but me and the daughters went virtual skydiving the other day and it was great fun.
I guess it isn't realistic enough if you want to use it a lot though. |

I got a pair last year (for work to hold virtual meetings). Found a couple of the games to be good fun, especially a fishing one. Some of the VR travel experiences/videos are really great and being able to look around 360 while watching video is novel. That said, after one or two weeks I put the headset under my desk and have yet to pick it up again. |  | | |

Mate does Occulus stuff for FB. Lots of new content coming out for it that isn't porn or game related. But all needs to be filmed in 3D, obviously. He's working on the spatial sound aspect as at the minute it can be very disorienting. But think there have been some good gigs released/re-released for 3D so if you're into your choons could be worth it.
