given the increasing number of near pointless international friendly matches & the tendency to use all 6 permitted subs & rotate the squad, it's pretty hard not to win a few England caps these days.

And yet the current England squad got further in a tournament than they did in 92/94!

But yes I agree it's quite odd that Callum Hudson-Odoi, an 18 year old from Chelsea who's only made 8 appearances, can get a call up. Southgate clearly likes including these youngsters early to build them up for years ahead, worked well so far.

Hudson-Odoi is clearly going to be some player though and a cap now seems a good investment.
