two of the experienced trusted guys...

"We are only Ipswich, not world beaters"

I don't mean McGoldrick.

No axe to grind, but ffs.

BCWYWF... lollers... obviously no one wished to be relegated. Our position damns more people than Hurst and his team.

Shows how easy Lambert's PR job was quite frankly, and at the same time how right he is for us at the moment. We have the most seminal few months coming up since MEG bought the club.

I think it’s where we are!

We’ve been ‘just an average Championship’ team for a while now who sometimes flirted with the top 6.

I just hope we don’t become an average League 1 side like say, Walsall.

We need to get out of there at the first time of asking.

And people will still complain that fans shouldn't have got restless. Fans have eyes to see what is going on.

Stagnation and empathy throughout and no wonder fans didn't want to pay to turn up anywhere. Was a club with no activity.

Safely in mid table. TWTD.

its an absolutely pointless argument/discussion to have. obviously better to be in the championship than L1, not even remotely going to disagree. but if it means theres a different outlook within the club, the players and staff then brilliant.

For how long will that last then?

Yeah if we do ok next season and we’re near the top throughout then everything will be fine.

If we go down and struggle, people will turn on Lambert and it’ll be the same as when MM left.

People claim now “we’ve got our Ipswich back” yet in McCarthys first year they also claimed “we’ve got out Ipswich back”.

I don’t think MM and the players outlook ever changed, it was the fans.

Thing is, the last few seasons, there hasn’t been any expectation to win every week, even from the fans!

When we play the ‘big’ clubs (Mainly relegated teams and the big spenders) many people on here/twitter will say “I don’t expect us to win but...”.

....are as thick as horse crap.

I wouldn't try and read to much into it.

The fact that he considered himself to be "the main man" says far more.

Having that injury prone show pony as your main man shows what resources the club had to work with through that entire period.

Really annoyed me that comment.

Not at all a fan of Mc from the little I've heard about him...and what he's just said incidentally is bending the truth to a very large degree.

"People claim now “we’ve got our Ipswich back” yet in McCarthys first year they also claimed “we’ve got out Ipswich back”. "

The key word there is in McCarthy's FIRST year.

Of course your general point is correct but let's face it, Lambert's PR is better than Mick's innit. Fishers et al keep using that as some negative, which is ridiculous. Obviously if we sign a load of journeymen and sell all the kids and aren't near the top, there's no amount of PR that will save Lambert.

All big and imo silly IFs though, at the moment. The fans can help build momentum and that's already started. You're on board presumably so stop being such a one eyed jess :)

Hubris.

We haven't even dealt with the financial impact of relegation and everything's rosy because we have a "different outlook"?

I hope people have the stomach for a potentially tough few years ahead. Let's be optimistic but let's also be real FFS.

The wage bill will drop by around 40% due to clauses in contracts?

We lose 7 mil TV money & our wage bill is 18 mil? Our wage bill will be approx £10 due to the clauses.

We'll be fine financially.
