Alumni just means former member/attendee etc. For example if you go to Cambridge uni and graduate you can get the alumni magazine which tells you what is going on. In the McDonalds example it would be sent to former employees, if there was such a thing. |

As someone else has pointed out they are building one on the A140 next to Scole.
I won't eat their burgers but have a breakfast usually once a week - if Uber is working properly.
The thing about McDonalds though is the service is excellent and they are all clean and well run. Also their prices are the same in every restaurant - including motorway service stations and airports - whereas Burger King, KFC etc ramp their prices up due to location.

There's something in what you say, I often get a cup of tea from McDonalds. Sadly I even peel the stickers off the side of the cups and get my free seventh cup. But I rarely eat the food as it is so bland, and probably mushed up from the lowest grade allowable of product produced under barely acceptable standards. Which I suppose is the logical extension of a good business model.
I did disgrace myself a few days ago and walk past a number of fine Portuguese restaurants (because I was on my tod) to get a cheeseburger and chips in Coimbra though, and here is something else they do right. Because of the touch screens a deafie who has almost no Portuguese can order a burger without onions but with additional lettuce and be sure that he has got it right. Still felt like I hadn't had a proper meal though. | |
