Mays extension to be rejected 13:34 - Mar 20 with 1421 viewsflimflam

No deal it is then.

May has sent request for an extension with no reasons as to why and the E.U said they would not grant an extension without a valid reason.

Leaks from the E.U are saying that they are to reject an extension.

May has just said its her deal or no deal.

Going out out in 9 days then.

did anyone ever really believe that a negotiation to leave the eu wouldn't end in an 11th hour stand off? still loads of time for this sort of stuff.

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

This is competely different to the usual negotiations, and I'm afraid there isn't. Only needs one member state with a grudge (Spain - Gib?) as I said last week.

That's not what the leaks from the EU are saying.

They are saying it needs to be shorter (before EU elections) or longer (a long time after).

Nothing else needed

Thought I'd missed something!

You are of course correct. Two months more of this. Deep joy.

They're essentially cancelling out May's sole tactic of making any future vote between her deal and no deal.

Which is showing far more respect for the UK Parliament than the Prime Minister is.

Might as well have Noel Edmonds as PM.

If we'd had someone like Jacinda Ardern* as PM since 2015, the UK would never have been in this mess.

Correct, it was always going to be like this.

The whole thing has been like a game of darts with two cr4p darts players when both players end up needing double 1

That's a little unfair. Unless you put Adern instead of Cameron and change things from the start.

I am still confident that the UK will Brexit at 11:59pm on 29th March, as long as the fax machine is working properly.

That's exactly what I meant! but I was going from that date because of his huge gamble (which Tusk warned him about) with the GE, and his concomittent assumption that he'd have Nick Clegg as part of a coalition to do his dirty work for him to reject any referendum. Clearly he didn't see the outright majority that he got, coming!

In reality, he didn't have to ditch the coalition just because he got an outright majority. Altho the LibDems were a lot less useful with 8 seats instead of the 57 they had before.

And I misread the date before replying, sorry.

Macron and other Frenchies are being quoted as saying there won't be an extension and they're basically happy to tie us up in a sack and throw us into the English Channel, if that'll put a stop to all this nonsense.

"In reality, he didn't *have* to ditch the coalition .."

Interesting, hadn't thought of that, but what justification could he have given for allowing one?

No sweat!
