Finally got my email through so i've officially signed.

If anyone has an iphone and hasn't received their email search for 'petition' in your search box. My email wasn't in my inbox or junk mail folder but came up when I searched for it. still no clue what folder it went to.

I don't really know what the significance is of knowing there are at least 5 million people who don't want to leave the EU, when i knew there were at least 16 million people who didn't want to leave the EU in 2016.

Errr - you haven't yet twigged that the vote is still live & signatures growing at the rate of knots ..?

Maybe unlikely, but it's poss it could actually get to 17m.

I doubt there’s anything stopping someone to vote multiple times, essentially making comparisons to the actual referendum incomparable.

Somebody on here yesterday claimed he has opened 400 new email accounts to vote 400 times. Honestly, some people have far to much time on their hands.

i wonder how many of those signatures are from

a) people under the age of 16 and therefore are uneligable to vote
b) people from outside the UK
c) duplicates
d) bots

im afraid in the scheme of things , this poll means absolutely jack all - except for the fact when it hit 100k, its put forward for a suggested debate in parliment, and given its already been debated , i cant see it being put forward again

waste of everyones time tbh

I doubt that one person who has signed it thinks it will succeed.

What I am hoping for is that MPs will cite it as a mandate for a confirmation referendum and maybe a few who were on the fence will be comfortable voting for a second referendum now they have a reason to legitimately doubt the result of the referendum. I know 5m isn't 17m but it's quite a statement and has added 100,000 signatures since this thread was made. If I was a remainer MP looking for the courage to vote for a second referendum I would be emboldened with every signature.

If it gets to 6.4m it will be 10% of the entire UK. That is extraordinary and leaves leavers desperately making baseless statements about fraud.

I have and i predict it won't. My scepticism is aimed at petitions rather than the people signing it, i would be equally dismissive of a leave petition.

Please remember I voted leave and have since realised that, in my opinion, I made a mistake. I have never called leave voters thick and was arguing against that opinion as recently as yesterday.

No doubt about those figures. No doubt.

Consider this, however - those votes came off the back of a campaign that, regardless of whether you voted to remain or leave, was heavily subsided, politicised and mis-represented on both sides.

And, in less than 3 days, almost 30% of the above number, have signed up to a petition that says that we're going down the wrong path. 3 days, on some sh1tty internet petition, that, as outlined previously on this site, shares the same platform as that Boaty McBoatface b0llocks....

Numbers that, as far as I am aware, are without compare online; particularly within the stated timescales. Regardless of political stance, these are remarkable numbers.

You bleat on all the time about how, if people are unhappy with the direction that our football club is taking, they should take action, directly, to change it.

And here we are, with this Brexit petition, undertaking a similar course of action to that proposed by you re: ITFC on a far-too regular basis. It's a slightly clumsy analogy; but can you see it?

(Meanwhile, Farage's tour of the country's finest Little Chef restaurants continues at great pace... I love an Olympic Breakfast, but, even so....)

You just don't like the facts that this is not going to go away until we leave and can get on with the other important issues in this country you remainers are stopping the Government getting on with.
