I’m not convinced that anyone on either side is certain what’s happening. We’re like 14th century villagers, arguing about the best way to fish the moon out of a lake.
And yes, it's spot on. The underlying problem is that Brexit is a deeply complex and technical discussion yet it's been badly translated into soundbites that hide its true nature - whatever side of the Leave/Remain debate people are on. Critical points like the Irish border were criminally ignored as a result.
Cameron should have been aware of that before even talking about a referendum and May should have changed the discussion when it came down to implementing it. Instead she amazingly doubled down on the empty rhetoric. But they're UK politicians and none of that is in their nature - in fact that's why they've risen to the top.
