Anything to be read into that?

Sounds intriguing at the least

I think it's a bit more straightforward than that. He has realised relegation is a certainty and reckons we will once it is mathematically impossible to survive.

It's a theory but I think ME might break his sustainable approach over the last few years and really go for it in League One to try and make sure we get back up at the first attempt.

Obviously to avoid the long-term damage of being stuck in League One but also because "going for it" costs far less in League One. I'm pretty sure we've also built up a credit that means we can obliterate our spending vs. revenue according to the FFP rules.

Relegation confirmed next Saturday
Reduced wages all round.
One win in first 9 League 1 matches.
Out of the Johnstone's paint cup on pens to Reading U23's.
Happy times.

An interesting theory.

He spent a fair bit when he first came in didn't he but trusted the wrong manager(s) with it.

Now he is no richer than most Championship owners and a fair bit poorer than many.

If you look at the problem with our spending in the past decade or so, we have spent too much on players who have performed in the past rather than have the potential in the near future. That and the fact we can't keep players fit.

He’s the 7th richest owner outside the Premier League. 6th in the Championship.

Can only think we are slashing ST prices to try and fill the ground, a la Huddersfield or Bradford.

Not what i heard would be happening, as thought it was 15-20% decrease, but the way PL has gone on about this makes me think it has to be something big - or he is really over-egging it.

I get the impression he is over-egging it somewhat. Says he can't say much about it, then pretty much goes on about the youth players etc. If it's not to do with the youth or ST pricing, I have no idea what else it could be.

It's straight-forward really. We now have no money at all to spend on transfer fees, which means our market will be entirely Bosman/free transfers. This will be dressed up as EXCITING TIMES WE ARE PLAYING OUR YOUTH TEAM SEASONED WITH A SPRINKLING OF EXPERIENCED PROFESSIONALS.
