Modern t*ss.
That's all.

Utterly farcical.

And why a yellow card as well? Just ruining the game.

We will end up with a game in which defenders putting everything on the line, are a liability and last ditch challenges and blocks are trained out of players from a young age. Pathetic.

Why? It was handball so correct decision.

Really don't understand why people moan when correct decision is made as after all that's what us football fans want at the end of the day.

Wenger's dream. Non-contact football.

The era of the show pony is nigh.

Its not handball. It was not intentional.

And shouldnt be next year either- but the morons are messing with the rules.

Never in a million years.

Ludicrous decision.

VAR is killing the game.

Illjust add- obvious obvious dive from Ali. Uefa's favourite refs dont play the same game as most of us grew up with. Cant believe he gave that. Again- pathetic.

It's a penalty. He's made his body bigger stopping a shot on target. Var bashing is so trendy I know but that is the correct decision.

Its not a penalty- unless you accept the ridiculous idea that it no longer has to be intentional.

How on earth do you throw yourself into a block like that with your hands behind your back? Ridiculous.

Why should a striker be punished because the defender couldn't keep his arms down? Hes made his body bigger and stopped the ball illegally. It's a penalty.

It’s definitely not a penalty.....if you are wearing a Liverpool shirt in front of the Kop when you do it.

No one is punished.

Its not intentional. Its not handball.

If you want a game without blocks and last ditch challenges, and with strikers chipping the ball up to try to hit people's arms- you are welcome to it.

But I simply wont be interested.

People keep getting annoyed at VAR. VAR has by and large been excellent. It's the interpretation of what hand ball is that is the issue. Dont blame VAR. These ball to hand incidents have now been deemed to be handball and everyone knows now they will be given. I don't agree they are handball but VAR is not the problem.

Poll: Genuine answers please on what you would choose next season!

I'm a defender so absolutely love seeing tackles and blocks coming in but when someone's arm is up like that and is stopping a shot on target you are in big trouble.

But you shouldnt be. Thats the point.

The rule was quite clear and quite simple. It required some discretion and judgment by refs.

But people have allowed the idea to develop that there was some "grey area" which need clarification. Combine that with VAR and non contact football attitudes and refs, and you have a sanitised bland game, full of pathetic players falling over and claiming handball at every opportunity.

Many years ago when I did a FA preliminary badge( so a long time ago) a ref came in and explained the handbsll rule at the time.....

It was simply that if the ball hit your hand /arm and you gained an advantage from it rg blocking a goal bound shot or gaining possession then it was Handball.
It was very simply and i thought fair and the least unambiguous definition..

It was handball, the ball deflected off his arm, prevented the shot hitting the target.

Armchair referees who should follow some other sport as no idea about football.

Read the rules. There is nothing in there about balls hitting the target. And there is a requirement that it is deliberate.

Actually you are correct...
It was a law! And honestly that is how it was described by the Suffolk FA official that came in for the session.

Law and rule are synonyms. I purposely say rule- because I am irritated by pendantswho insist they are "laws".

Im happy to go with the rulebook rather than what some bloke on the internet says another bloke told him once.

Shame VAR wasn't able to adjucate on the Spurs player encroaching who cleared the ball after Lloris saved it.

Just one small problem; sell their houses to who, Ben? Fcking Aquaman?
