Many years ago when I did a FA preliminary badge( so a long time ago) a ref came in and explained the handbsll rule at the time.....
It was simply that if the ball hit your hand /arm and you gained an advantage from it rg blocking a goal bound shot or gaining possession then it was Handball.

Read the rules. There is nothing in there about balls hitting the target. And there is a requirement that it is deliberate. | |
